Goals of Youth Art Month:

  • Promote the Value of Art Education: Highlight the importance of art education in developing well-rounded individuals and fostering creativity.

  • Expand Art Programs: Encourage the growth and expansion of art programs in schools and communities.

  • Engage the Community: Foster community involvement in art education through exhibitions, workshops, and other creative activities.

  • Advocate for Art Education: Increase support for art education from community members, businesses, and government officials.

  • Inspire Creativity: Encourage students of all ages to participate in creative art learning and experiences.

  • Align with National Goals: Support the goals of the National Art Education Association to improve art education at all levels.

YAM Frequently Asked Questions

Youth Art Month Flag

The YAM Flag contest is an opportunity available to all students in Georgia who’s art teacher is a GAEA member. The winning entry (or entries) are physically printed on a flag to represent the state of Georgia at the National Art Education Association Conference held each year.

  • Submit your entry by January 26, 2026.

    Please email your submissions to georgiayaminfo@gmail.com (you do not have to physically mail the designs.) Please label each submission: StudentName_School_Artteacherrlastname_YAM2026

    Include the form and image of flag design as separate files.

  • Design entries must include the following:

    • The theme- “The World Needs Art”

    • Art Supplies

    • 2026

    -Items that represent Georgia (shape of state, peaches, cotton, state bird or flower, etc)

    -YAM or Youth Arts Month (can use the logo aYm with a small world in the Y)

Document your Youth Art Month Activities so we can share with NAEA all the hard work happening in Georgia. Make sure you tell us all about your program and how you advocate for your students throughout the year.

Youth Art Month is a nationwide celebration of young artists and their creative work. This annual event, initiated in 1961 by the Art and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI), is now administered by the Council for Art Education (CAE) with the support of the National Art Education Association (NAEA)

We are so very PROUD of our YAM awardees for the 2024 Youth Art Month Awards! The Council for Art Education is excited to see a significant increase in YAM activities throughout the country! Thank you to all who sent in your YAM photos and documentation and keep it up!
